2012 R2 RDS multiple Session Hosts, configure redirect from Connection broker to Collection

Sometimes it´s needed to configure connection to Session Hosts collection with out using RDWeb site. It´s quite easy to configure and I will show simply steps how to do it

First of all, install Chrome or another web browser so you are able to download .rdp file from RDWebsite. Download file and open it for example with notepad.
Find the line “loadbalanceinfo:s:tsv://MS Terminal Services Plugin.1.YourCollection”

Login to Remote Desktop Connection Broker server and open regedit. Browse to following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\ClusterSettings

Create new stringValue: DefaultTsvUrl
Then paste earlier copied path to Value data: tsv://MS Terminal Services Plugin.1.YourCollection

That´s it. Now you are able to connect via mstsc to your Session hosts.
Remember if you need to connect directly to RDCB server, use /admin option.

  1. Hi There,

I have tried this however when I try to connect via RDP to my CB wich should redirect to the session host collection it gives the error “Connection Broker couldn’t validate the settings in your RDP file”

I have double checked the collection name in the TSV and it is correct.

    • Hi Dean,
could you please give me some more details about your setup and error message(s)?
Is there any other error messages(CB / session hosts) (evenID etc)?
How many servers do you have on your setup and is there any other roles/features running on RDS servers?
      Same problem occurs from internal/public?
      Tried from different client versions?

  2. This works,

However; how to proceed when using multipe TSfarms over 1 connecion broker?

There can be only DefaultTsvUrl entry.. ?

    • Hi,
There is no provision of defining multiple collections in this registry so if you want to use clients over multiple collections then it won’t be possible.
