How to install Hyper-V Integration Services (ICs) in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Azure CLI

This blog post shows the steps what you need to when configuring Ubuntu 12.04 to Hyper-V and also install Azure CLI. In this case we wanted to test Docker and these are the basic steps.

install Hyper-V Integration Services (ICs) in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

sudo nano /etc/initramfs-tools/modules

Insert following lines to end

hv_vmbus

hv_storvsc

hv_blkvsc

hv_netvsc

After changes pre ctrl+x and save with same name

Check that updates are saved correctly via command

cat /etc/initramfs-tools/modules

Update parameters and reboot
sudo update-initramfs –u

sudo shutdown -r now

After reboot check that modules are installed

Lsmod

Install the Azure CLI

CLI tools are written in node.js so first we need to install it

sudo apt-get update (first update sources)

sudo apt-get install nodejs-legacy

sudo apt-get install npm

Then install CLI client

sudo npm install azure-cli –global

Login your Azure CLI with your account:

azure account download

Got to following url and login with your Azure Account http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=254432

Select correct subscription

Save/move file for example on your desktop

Run following command:

Azure account import “<filename>”

That´s it.
